VALLEY FORGE, Pa.—Wholesale drug distributor AmerisourceBergen said that it has agreed to acquire Bellco Health, a privately held distributor of branded and generic pharmaceuticals, for approximately $235 million.
AmerisourceBergen said the deal is subject to regulatory approvals and is targeting to close the deal by June 30.
Bellco Health is headquartered in North Amityville, N.Y., and has annual revenues of approximately $2 billion. It is a major distributor in New York City, where it serves independent retail community pharmacies. Nationwide, Bellco markets and sells generic pharmaceuticals to individual retail pharmacies and provides pharmaceutical products and services to dialysis clinics. Those services include CORA (Clinical Outcomes Resource Application), which is a Webbased clinical data collection and reporting company for renal providers.
“Bellco is a great strategic fit with our pharmaceutical distribution business not only because of its strong position in the Metro New York City area, which is the largest independent retail community pharmacy market in the nation, but also because it brings a sophisticated generic pharmaceuticals sales and marketing business,” said R. David Yost, AmerisourceBergen’s CEO.
