NxStage inks blood tubing deal with Kawasumi Labs

LAWRENCE, Mass.—Medical device company NxStage Medical and its subsidiary Medisystems Corp. entered into an agreement in which Tokyo-based Kawasumi Laboratories will supply blood tubing sets through Jan. 31, 2010.

“We are pleased to extend our long-standing relationship with Kawasumi for blood tubing sets,” said Jeffrey Burbank, president and CEO of NxStage. “I believe NxStage is well positioned to preserve and build upon Medisystems’ reputation for high quality and to grow the business further with new and innovative products for our customers.”

In October 2007, NxStage completed its acquisition of Seattle-based Medisystems, which  develops, manufactures and distributes medical devices for dialysis and blood-related treatments, such as AV fistula needles and other dialysis disposables.
