SlideShow: ICD-10 Codesand CKD

On Oct. 1, 2013, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will require that all reporting services switch from using the ICD-9 codes, which were developed more than 30 years ago, to the ICD-10 codes.

This is no small undertaking as the codes will increase from roughly 17,000 in ICD-9 to more than 155,000 in ICD-10. Therefore, dialysis clinics will have to start familiarizing themselves with the new coding set. The following slideshow looks into coding for Diabetes with Diabetic Chronic Kidney Disease and Hypertensive Chronic Kidney Disease.
