Patients with HIV, hepatitis C at increased kidney disease risk

NEW YORK—Patients with both HIV and hepatitis C have a significantly higher risk of developing kidney disease than patients with only HIV, a new study published in AIDS revealed.

The study found that co-infected patients were 49 percent more likely to develop the disease than those who only have HIV. Study researchers said these findings reinforce the importance of early recognition of kidney disease. (Read more here.)
