SEATTLE—Christopher Blagg, MD, FRCP, is the new editor of Hemodialysis International, which is the official journal of the International Society of Hemodialysis.
Blagg is a professor emeritus of medicine at the University of Washington. He is also emeritus executive director at Seattle-based Northwest Kidney Centers, and is internationally known as a home hemodialysis expert.
He is replacing Allen Nissenson, MD, FACP, who has been the journal’s editor since 2004. Nissenson is the chief medical officer for dialysis provider DaVita.
During his tenure, Nissenson helped Hemodialysis International gain entry into PubMed, which is an online service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine. It includes more than 18 million citations for biomedical articles back to the 1950s.
ISHD was formed in 1999 and has more than 200 members worldwide. Its journal, Hemodialysis International, has grown from a single annual issue to five issues per year.
“The ISHD would like to thank Dr. Nissenson for his outstanding service and to welcome Dr. Blagg to his new editorial position,” ISHD wrote in a news release.
