PALM BEACH, Fla.—The driver of a truck that struck and killed Robert Geronemus, MD, a nephrologist and internist at South Florida Nephrology Associates, has been charged with DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident on Jan. 24, reported the Palm Beach Post.
According to police, Geronemus was attending a conference in Miami and just finished dinner with colleagues when he was struck in the crosswalk by Richard Anthony Doval who then fled the scene but was later apprehended.
"It'll be very hard without him. He's impossible to replace," said Edouard Martin, MD, one of his partners at South Florida Nephrology Associates.
