President Barack Obama signed the economic stimulus plan in Denver today, readying a $50 billion proposal to help homeowners fend off foreclosure and awaiting emergency restructuring plans from flailing automakers. The Associated Press states that the $787 billion plan is one of the biggest public spending programs since World War II.

According to Reuters, $150 billion of the bill signed by President Barack Obama on Tuesday involves health-related spending. Of that amount, $19 billion will be available to encourage the broader use of health information technology such as electronic medical records and electronic prescriptions, via incentive payments to doctors through Medicare and Medicaid, including all outpatient facilities.
