DaVita Names Moran VP of Clinical Affairs-Home Therapies

DENVER—DaVita, Inc. announced the appointment of Dr. John Moran as Vice President of Clinical Affairs-Home Therapies. He will be responsible for managing the clinical aspects of the home dialysis modalities offered to DaVita’s approximately 117,000 patients.

“Dr. Moran is a highly accomplished and respected nephrologist, and has been internationally recognized for his work in the advancement of home therapies for dialysis patients,” said Allen R. Nissenson, MD, FACP, chief medical officer for DaVita. “We are thrilled to have him join the DaVita Village and are confident that his outstanding record as a kidney care specialist will help DaVita continue to provide high-quality care to our patients.”

Moran brings more than 33 years experience in the dialysis field. Since 2002, he has served as chief scientific officer and later senior vice president of clinical affairs at Satellite Healthcare, with special interest in the field of home peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis as corporate medical director for WellBound, Inc, a subsidiary of Satellite. Prior to joining Satellite, he was chief medical officer of Vasca, Inc., where he was responsible for the clinical trials on the LifeSite® devices for vascular and peritoneal access. Previously, he was global medical director of the renal division of Baxter Healthcare, and initiated and led the ADEMEX (ADEquacy of peritoneal dialysis in MEXico) study.

Moran currently serves as a consulting professor in the School of Medicine at Stanford University. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and of the American Society of Nephrology.
