WASHINGTON—Dialysis Patient Citizens (DPC)—a nationwide, nonprofit patient advocacy organization comprised of more than 22,000 dialysis and pre-dialysis patients, caregivers and family members working to advance the quality of life of dialysis patients—announced May 28 a call for nominations for its board of directors.
Elected for a two-year term, DPC’s board members include current and former dialysis patients, clinicians and others who are dedicated to improving all dialysis patients’ quality of life.

“As the nation’s largest dialysis patient-led advocacy organization, DPC looks to our board of directors to provide a greater understanding of the current environment in kidney care; what is most important to patients and their families; and what policy issues are most significant to the patients’ quality of life ,” said Chad Lennox, Executive Director of DPC. “By gathering a mix of experiences, backgrounds and perspectives from patients, we strive to provide a truly representative voice in advocating for what matters most to dialysis patients.”
Formed in 2004, DPC is dedicated to improving dialysis patients’ quality of life by developing greater awareness of kidney disease and dialysis issues, advocating for dialysis patients, improving the partnership between patients and caregivers and promoting favorable public policy.
DPC and its members hold national advocacy events and work closely with other leading kidney care organizations; meet with members of Congress and staff regarding key policy issues; coordinate local and regional kidney care educational events; and develop a variety of informative materials for patients and caregivers, among other activities.
