CMS to Reconsider Coverage of Anemia Drugs

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced yesterday that it is reviewing its coverage of anemia drugs Epogen and Aranesp used to treat patients with kidney disease. The drugs are being scrutinized after trial data showed they could lead to heart problems, according to Reuters.
