TAMPA, Fla.—The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) said July 26 that it will offer continuing education (CE) credits to registered nurses, dietitians, licensed social workers and nursing home administrators at its 2010 Annual Convention.

“The AAKP Convention is a great forum for health care professionals to receive continuing education credits,” said Laurie Shore, MSW, LCSW, AAKP Board Member and 2010 Convention Committee Member. “Convention not only has leading physicians and other professionals teaching the latest information on kidney care, but also provides participating health care professionals with something invaluable - being educated directly by patients and hearing what it’s like to actually be a patient.”

This year, AAKP is offering three educational tracks to participate in: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD/Pre-dialysis) Track, ESRD (Dialysis) Track and Transplantation Track. This new agenda will offer both patients and health care professionals with the opportunity to participate in the educational sessions that most interest them.

This year’s convention will be held at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina, Sept. 2-4. Convention registrations for healthcare professionals begin at $190 for a full registration package or $50 for one-day registrations.

The deadline for early registration is Aug. 16.
