EMERYVILLE, Calif.—At its annual user’s meeting, Quantitative Medical Systems (QMS) will host a symposium with nationally recognized experts to discuss challenges and opportunities the dialysis industry will be facing heading into 2011.

The QMS-hosted  symposium will be held  August 19-20 at the Westin Casuarina in Las Vegas, Nev.

“Dialysis providers must adapt to specific challenges posed by the financial structure of bundled payment for dialysis therapy coupled with increased reporting requirements by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS),” QMS said in a news release.

Sessions at the symposium will examine the newly released bundling rules, discuss revenue maximization, and operational optimization for providers to effectively adjust business models to work within the new paradigm, according to QMS.

There will also be a review of industry activities regarding CROWNWeb and electronic data submission will be another part of this session.

In addition to these business topics, current clinical issues which relate specifically to treating the end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patient during the first 120 days of dialysis and effective fluid management of the dialysis patient will be discussed.

The symposium will feature nationally recognized experts in the field including Edward Jones, MD; Diana Hlebovy, RN; Linda McCann, RD; Marcia Keen, RN, PhD, as well as key clinical and business members of the ESRD provider community.

QMS said it anticipates offering CE contact hours for the symposium. Contact Karina Fuh at (800) 752-4600 for registration information.
