PHOENIX—Virgo Publishing LLC, an integrated business-to-business information services company and parent company of Renal Business Today, announced Aug. 12 the appointment of John Siefert as its new chief executive officer.

Siefert is the former senior vice president and publisher of InformationWeek Business Technology Network at United Business Media TechWeb. In addition to being named CEO, Siefert has also become a member of Virgo’s board of directors.
As part of a transition plan at Virgo announced in February, Bolton, who co-founded Virgo in 1986, will step down as Virgo’s CEO. She will remain on Virgo’s board of directors and will be a senior advisor to the company.
Siefert joins the company from United Business Media (UBM), where he most recently led the InformationWeek and Tech Web teams as senior vice president. During his 15-year tenure at UBM, Siefert was helped guide the business through a major transformation to digital media.
In addition, he led InformationWeek and nine other editorial brands and was responsible for the strategic direction, growth strategy and evolution of a multifaceted online, print, event and services network covering the corporate technology market.
Siefert has also served in various other roles during his tenure at UBM, formerly known as CMP Media, including group publisher of Network Computing and national director, sales and market development of Network Computing Enterprise Architecture Group.

It has 17 brands including trade magazines and/or websites, eight trade shows/conferences, a training and accreditation program and an expanding online platform.
Virgo is a portfolio company of Arlington Capital Partners, a Washington, DC-based private-equity firm.
