MEDIA, Pa.—Reliant Renal Care has opened new “green” dialysis clinic in Houma, La.

"We are proud to offer the choice of hemodialysis, home dialysis and self-care dialysis services to Houma patients at this state-of-the-art facility," said Barbara Bednar, RRC's President and Chief Executive Officer. "Through an association with an environmental design studio in New Orleans, Spruce Eco-Studio, we have incorporated some environmentally friendly concepts to this facility, including outfitting of the reception area and offices with green guard certified furniture and furnishings throughout, creating an optimal indoor air quality, free from off-gassing from commonly used glues and paints that are used in the furniture manufacturing process."

Recycled and recyclable materials have been used whenever possible, according to RRC.

Shaminder Gupta, MD, a board-certified Nephrologist, will lead the new facility as medical director. "RRC has recognized the tremendous need for a modern facility in the bayou region. This region has terrific needs and has been affected by Hurricanes Katrina, Gustav and Ike and most recently the BP oil spill,” said Gupta. “I'm proud to partner with Reliant Renal Care because they are the most dedicated to providing the patients in the region with more options, in particular, peritoneal dialysis, home dialysis and nocturnal dialysis.”

With the opening of the Houma facility, RRC now operates 12 facilities Michigan, Texas, Colorado, Alabama and now Louisiana.
