The module addresses misconceptions about hospice requirements, challenges common barriers of care and identifies the need to provide end-of-life services for kidney patients. In addition, the module will serve as the fourth installment in ANNA’s Web-based learning series “End-of-Life Decision Making and the Role of the Nephrology Nurse.”
The educational content, though co-developed by a nursing organization, is applicable to all disciplines within the renal and hospice communities who wish to learn more about providing hospice and palliative care to ESRD patients, according to the groups.
The module is formatted as an educational slideshow, including author’s notes for further application. Learners may view the module for free on the Kidney End-of-Life Coalition website (www.kidneyeol.org) as well as ANNA’s website (www.annanurse.org).
Renal nurses and patient care technicians may earn 1.25 contact hours of continuing education credit for viewing the presentation on ANNA’s PROLibraries website (www.prolibraries.com/anna), with the purchase of a continuing nursing education (CNE) evaluation. Additionally, ANNA Chapters may repeat the module as a live CNE activity.
