NEW YORK—HM Insurance Group has made a commitment to support two major National Kidney Foundation (NKF) programs—the NKF Cadillac Golf Classic and the Kidney Walk.
Through the partnership, HM Insurance will serve as presenting sponsor of the local NKF Cadillac Golf Tournament series and platinum sponsor of the 2011 Kidney Walk events.
“As one of the leading insurance carriers for employer stop loss insurance, HM Insurance Group protects employers that self-fund their employees’ health insurance by providing catastrophic, or stop loss insurance. Conditions such as kidney disease can lead to catastrophic claims, as seen firsthand by HM,” said Michael Sullivan, HM president and COO. “We have paid $44 million in kidney disease-related claims over the past five years, making kidney disease among the top five claim categories at HM.”
The National Kidney Foundation's Kidney Walk events are held throughout the year in nearly 100 communities nationwide, totaling 75,000 walkers. HM Insurance Group will form a national team participating in the Kidney Walk program and will recruit Kidney Walkers in 12 cities. HM employees will take part in fund raising and marketing initiatives on the local level.
“Through this partnership, we can help improve early detection and awareness efforts and improve treatment. This has the potential to reduce health care costs and enhance the quality of life for patients and their families,” said Sullivan.
The National Kidney Foundation Cadillac Golf Classic is a nationwide series of more than 45 golf tournaments held across the country. HM Insurance will support local events in 12 cities as well as the annual National Finals held in Pebble Beach, Calif.
In Pittsburgh, where the company is headquartered, HM Insurance Group will serve as presenting sponsor of the local NKF Cadillac Golf Tournament and Kidney Walk in 2011.
"The National Corporate Partnership Program is the fastest-growing segment of both our NKF Cadillac Golf Classic series and our Kidney Walk campaign," said John Davis, National Kidney Foundation CEO. We are excited to have HM Insurance Group join us and hope that others follow their lead in supporting events that help the National Kidney Foundation raise funds for critical programs in early detection, public education, research, patient advocacy and organ donation."
