Gambro Names New President, CEO

LUND, Sweden—Gambro has appointed Dr. Guido Oelkers to be the company’s president and CEO no later than Nov. 1.

Oelkers will succeed Ulf Mattsson, who is currently interim president and CEO. Mattsson will continue his assignment as a member of the board of directors.

"The board is pleased to bring the intensive search process to a successful conclusion with the recruitment of Dr. Guido Oelkers and we look forward to working with him," said Dr. Erich R. Reinhardt, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gambro. "I believe his personality as well as his excellent understanding of the market dynamics, together with his global commercial and customer experience, position him well to lead Gambro into a future characterized by profitable growth."

Oelkers is currently the executive vice president, Commercial Operations, of Nycomed, which is a position he has held since 2008. Before joining Nycomed he served as CEO of Invida, a leading pharmaceutical company in Asia. Oelkers holds a Master in Applied Economics, from Southbank University, London and a PhD in Strategic Management from University of South Australia, Adelaide.
