MADISON, Wisc.—The Medical Education Institute (MEI) was selected as a Gold Award winner in the 13th annual Web Health Awards(SM) program for its mini-movie entitled "Let's Talk About...Fistulas."
The Web Health awards competition recognizes the nation's best digital health resources. "Let's Talk About...Fistulas" is a three-minute multimedia movie about choosing a fistula for hemodialysis access.
"We created this short high-impact message to help dialysis patients understand why replacing a hemodialysis catheter with a fistula is so important," said MEI Executive Director Dori Schatell. "Dialysis professionals can use our movie to start a conversation with patients about converting from a catheter to an arteriovenous fistula (AVF)."
The movie is available free in English and Spanish at www.lifeoptions.org/letstalk/.
Let's Talk About...Fistulas was written and developed by the Medical Education Institute and produced by Angelvision Technologies, Inc., Portland, Oreg. It is the first in a series of "Let's Talk About... " educational programs for dialysis patients.
Funding was provided by an educational grant from AmgenMED.
