KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The PKD Foundation has announced that Gary Godsey will be its new president and chief executive officer, effective Nov. 28.

The PKD Foundation is a Kansas City-based nonprofit organization which funds Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) research and provides a variety of programs to serve the PKD community.  PKD is a life-threatening genetic disease affecting 12.5 million men, women and children worldwide.

Godsey began his 32-year career in the nonprofit sector when he was hired as Executive Director of the American Cancer Society upon graduation from college. More recently, he served as president and CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas from 2000 to 2011.

“Gary brings an incredible skill set to the PKD Foundation," said  Scott Goodman, PKD Foundation Board of Trustees Chairman.  "His leadership abilities, years of experience, energy and insight will enable him to guide the organization forward, as we work to fulfill our mission to ensure no one suffers the full effects of Polycystic Kidney Disease.  We are honored to have Gary as part of our team.”

Godsey earned a bachelor’s degree in Health from Tennessee Tech University.

“I am very honored to have been selected for this position,”  Godsey said. “The PKD Foundation is focused on finding a cure for a disease impacting millions of people worldwide.  I look forward to working hand-in-hand with the volunteers, board members and staff, who are so committed to addressing the current needs of patients and their families, while being laser-focused on finding a treatment and cure for PKD.  This is a unique and exciting opportunity, one which I am grateful to be part of.”
