BUFFALO, N.Y.—U.S. Renal Care announced Nov. 28 that it has treated its first patients at its Tonawanda-N.Y. facility, which is the first of three dialysis centers in the greater Buffalo area that USRC plans to open in November and December.
The centers were the subject of Certificates of Need granted by the New York Public Health and Health Planning Council, and will be the company’s first dialysis centers in New York.
“After many months of careful planning with the community, we are pleased to have treated our first patient and member of the community,” said Kristin Matteson, DO, medical director of the facility in Tonawanda. “Our goal is to improve the quality of life for patients and their caretakers in this region. We are proud to have taken an important first step and look forward to treating many more patients at this center and in Cheektowaga and Williamsville.”
The Tonawanda clinic has 13 stations and will initially operate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, eventually expanding to six days a week, as needed. The other two facilities, located in Cheektowaga and Williamsville, will also have 13 stations. The new facilities are expected to draw patients from approximately within a 30-mile radius around each center. Combined, the clinics are expected to create 45 new local jobs once the facilities reach full maturity.
“We are excited about the opportunity to provide quality dialysis care to dialysis patients in the Buffalo area,” said Chris Brengard, CEO of U.S. Renal Care. “We look forward to providing a critical service to the community through our state-of-the-art facilities and highest quality of care.”
U.S. Renal Care serves more than 6,200 patients and operates 125 clinics and outpatients programs in 12 states, including 89 freestanding outpatient dialysis centers.
