SAN JOSE, Calif.—Satellite Healthcare, Inc., a national provider of dialysis services and a sponsor of nephrology research, announced today the launch of SPIN-MD Mobile™, a mobile application that delivers patient data to physicians' tablets and mobile devices.
"I've found SPIN-MD Mobile™ to be an incredibly useful and intuitive tool," said Dr. Gopa Green, MD, a nephrologist from Santa Rosa, CA, who has been referring patients to Satellite since 2005. "Having clinical data on patients right at my fingertips and the ability to use my phone or tablet to write and sign orders from anyplace, anytime has been immensely helpful and timesaving."
The app is the latest addition to Satellite's SPIN® suite, a collection of proprietary technologies aimed at helping doctors and clinical staff maximize clinician-patient interaction and increase favorable patient outcomes. An extension of the popular SPIN-MD® program, SPIN-MD Mobile™ provides a comprehensive collection of all critical patient information including demographics, notes, orders, labs and treatment details, stored securely and available to doctors 24/7 on a variety of portable platforms.
"SPIN-MD Mobile™ is a simple, efficient tool for doctors and also an enormous help for the staff in our dialysis centers," said Linda McCann, Satellite's vice president of clinical applications. "Having patient information available to doctors via smart phones and tablets allows our physicians to sign orders and direct patient care on the go. It enables our staff to provide care to our patients in the most efficient and timely manner."
In addition to its clinical applications, Satellite expects that SPIN-MD Mobile™ will further reduce paper waste, adding to the more than three million printed pages already saved by the existing SPIN technologies. The application will also continue to advance the nonprofit's move toward a more complete electronic record with online tracking of signed orders and reduced printing and faxing activities.
