MADISON, Wis.— Medical Education Institute (MEI) has put together a second 3 minute movie to help explain dialysis options.
The multi-media movie called "Let's Talk About...Dialysis Options" is now available to watch in English and Spanish on the Life Options website of MEI at www.lifeoptions.org/letstalk. The new movie is the second in the "Let's Talk About..." series which are designed to help people on dialysis and their care teams communicate. The first, "Let's Talk About...Fistulas" has won multiple awards.
"Ninety-two percent of US dialysis patients use standard in-center hemodialysis when other options might help them to feel better and have more active lifestyles," said Executive Director Dori Schatell. "We created this movie to help people with kidney failure learn about different ways to do dialysis."
The movie quickly and graphically explains:
- Hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis
- The impact of treatment options on lifestyle, symptoms, and quality of life
- Benefits of PD and longer and/or more-frequent hemodialysis
- Home treatment as a practical choice
