ROCKVILLE, Md.—The American Kidney Fund (AKF) is now accepting applications for its Clinical Scientist in Nephrology (CSN) Program for the 2013-2014 academic year. CSN fellows, who receive grants of up to $80,000 per year for a maximum of two years, conduct prevention and outcomes research and receive advanced training in essential skills such as medical ethics, biostatistics and epidemiology.
The primary goal of the AKF CSN Program is to improve the quality of care provided to kidney patients and to promote clinical research in nephrology. This goal is achieved by enhancing the training of nephrologists who desire to pursue an academic career and whose primary professional commitment is to scholarship in the provision of patient care. The AKF's CSN Program is supported by an educational donation provided by Amgen.
“The CSN program is designed to provide financial support that will allow each fellow to have access to the best training and research opportunities available,” said LaVarne A. Burton, president and CEO of the AKF. “It is the American Kidney Fund’s goal that each fellow will be poised to make a lasting impact on the renal community and advance the level of patient care through the support of the CSN Fellowship Program.”
