CAMDEN, N.J.—Lourdes Health System has entered into a partnership with DaVita Inc., to own and operate its outpatient dialysis services, and for DaVita to manage its inpatient acute programs, announced Alexander J. Hatala, president and CEO of Lourdes Health System.
Lourdes has been a leading provider of dialysis services to the southern New Jersey community and has treated thousands of patients over the years. Through this partnership, DaVita will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations at all three Lourdes-affiliated outpatient sites. Lourdes anticipates the partnership will positively impact patient care and satisfaction with expanded services and therapies, while providing significant cost savings due to a more streamlined approach to care.
“We are pleased to partner with DaVita to bring critical dialysis care options to our patients,” said Hatala. “Through an integrated approach, Lourdes will be able to further improve care quality, while better managing the high costs associated with kidney care. With its extensive experience, we believe DaVita will continue and further Lourdes’ exemplary commitment to patient outcomes by implementing the best practices it has developed for its centers across the nation.”
DaVita’s physician-driven clinical outcomes are the best or among the best in virtually every category. According to the company, excellent clinical outcomes result in fewer hospitalizations, lower mortality rates and drive substantial savings.
“Lourdes has a rich history of providing high-quality comprehensive services for patients with kidney disease, and DaVita is eager to bring the benefits of its long history of clinical excellence to patients in the community. We are extremely happy to enter into this partnership with one of southern New Jersey’s leading hospital service providers,” said Axel Lapica, Division Vice President, Keystone Gardens, New Jersey.
Hatala adds “Strong partnerships are increasingly important to succeed in this era of healthcare reform. This partnership allows Lourdes to focus on expanding other service lines while leaving dialysis services in the hands of a trusted expert.”
As a result of the partnership, DaVita will become part of Lourdes’ integrated continuum of care throughout the region, with over 60 locations providing hospital, ambulatory and physician services.
“As the renal patient population continues to grow, partnering with an experienced dialysis provider such as DaVita becomes more valuable than ever,” said Hatala. “At Lourdes, our focus has always been to provide our patients the best quality care possible, and DaVita shares those same values. We look forward to working with our new partner to take the dialysis care at Lourdes to the next level.”
