NEW YORK—Every two years the Lillian Jean Kaplan International Prize for Advancement in the Understanding of Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is given to a recognized medical professional or researcher exhibiting excellence and leadership in PKD clinical or basic research.
This year the deadline for nominations is December 1. The award will be presented to the winner(s) at the World Congress of Nephrology in Hong Kong in June 2013.
In addition to the monetary award, the winner(s) will have the opportunity to present a lecture during the conference.
Nomination requirements are:
1. The full name and complete contact information of the nominee(s).
2. A formal letter of nomination that contains:
i. A statement of whether the award should be made to an individual or whether it should/could be shared with other scientists who may or may not be included in the nomination;
ii. a summary of the contributions of the nominee(s);
iii. a description of how and why the work of the nominee(s) represents a major advance in basic or clinical understanding of PKD, distinguishing those aspects of the work that clearly set it apart from the work of others in the field.
3. A full curriculum vitae and bibliography for the nominee(s).
4. At least two letters of support for the nomination.
5. The full name and complete contact information of the nominator(s).
