LAWRENCE, Mass.,—NxStage Medical, announced that Jeffrey H. Burbank, founder and chief executive officer of NxStage, accepted Home Dialyzors United's (HDU) Trailblazer Award for NxStage's outstanding achievement in the innovation and advancement of home hemodialysis with the NxStage System One, at the HDU's 3rd Annual Meet Up and Conference in Baltimore.   In addition, Joseph E. Turk Jr., president of NxStage Medical, North America will highlight the growing adoption of the NxStage System One and preview the Company's Connected Health solution at the Conference on Tuesday, October 9th.

HDU's 2012 Meet Up and Conference provides an opportunity for patients and care partners, who are looking for alternatives to in-center treatment, to learn firsthand from home dialyzors, care partners, and leading renal specialists about the improved quality of life and other benefits of more frequent home hemodialysis.

"We believe that home hemodialysis changes dialyzors' lives dramatically for the better, and at HDU we are driven to proactively advocate for issues to improve awareness and access," said Richard Berkowitz, founder and president of HDU.  "Thousands of dialyzors would not have the option to experience the benefits of daily home dialysis without the technology and ongoing commitment of NxStage.  HDU considers itself a true family of patients, care partners, professionals, and others with a shared vision, and we are delighted to recognize NxStage as part of this family."

"NxStage shares Home Dialyzors United passion to make home dialysis, specifically home hemodialysis, more accessible to patients with kidney failure.  We are delighted to be recognized for our commitment, and we look forward to productive future collaborations," said Jeffrey H. Burbank, chief executive officer of NxStage.  "At the end of the day, patients want a better way for a better life.  We believe NxStage can help make that happen for tens of thousands of patients.  This conference is an important step toward helping many patients achieve those objectives."

HDU's 2012 Meet Up and Conference will be held October 7-10 in Baltimore.  For more information on the conference, including a schedule of events, please visit www.homedialyzorsunited.org.
