DENVER—DaVita announced it has acquired nine dialysis centers from Fresenius Medical Care. Four of the clinics are located in Portugal and five clinics are located in Poland.

“After initially investing in Germany in 2011, DaVita is happy to expand its geographical presence in Europe and secure its long-term presence in the region,” said Dennis Kogod, chief operating officer of DaVita Health Care Partners.

As a leading provider of kidney care services in the United States, DaVita has achieved clinical outcomes that have improved year-over-year for more than a decade and looks forward to continuing to build on this track record in Europe.

“I am pleased to bring decades of clinical experience and a proven business track record on the continent to this transaction,” said Bjorn Englund, president of Europe and Middle East, for DaVita. “We look forward to a strong alliance with the health care communities in each of these countries and to delivering high-quality patient care.”
